Understanding your Domain Authority score

Domain Authority is best used as a comparative, directional metric — not a precise ranking factor Google itself uses. It's genuinely useful for three things: benchmarking your site against direct competitors, tracking your own site's authority growth over months and years, and quickly triaging link-building or acquisition opportunities.

Because DA is a third-party estimate (ours included — see our methodology), scores from different tools will never match exactly. What matters is using one consistent tool to track relative change over time.

What influences Domain Authority?

• The number and quality of unique domains linking to your site.
• Overall domain age and consistency of activity.
• Technical trust signals like valid HTTPS and clean DNS/blocklist history.
• The authority of the domains linking to you, not just the raw link count.
